Outdoors and Environment

All Saints Allotment / Orchard

Within our school grounds, there is a small established orchard of fruit trees, a small allotment area with several raised vegetable beds and a wild flower bee garden.

Miss Latham, Mrs Carolan, along with groups of dedicated pupils, keep the gardens and allotment in order and often use it as a teaching or therapeutic area.

Community Allotment

All Saints have also successfully developed a small allotment area within the grounds of the local park and this space is open to the local community.

If you live in the local area and would like to support or get involved with our allotment areas, please contact Miss Latham.

Our Green Practices

Paper Recycling

Each class, office and public area within school has its own paper recycling bin and the remaining waste/unusable paper is collected for mass recycling by the council.

Energy

We have eco-monitors that check classrooms, offices and publics spaces daily to ensure that electrical devices are switched off wherever possible. Using a point system, awards are given to the classes that save the most energy.

Wildflower Bee Garden

In the school grounds we are developing wildflower bee garden. Wildflowers provide bees, butterflies and other pollinators with food throughout the year. On a single day in summer, half an acre of wildflower meadow can support nearly 48,000 honey bees.

Eco Team

Our school Eco team regularly meets to come up with new ideas and practices to help improve the school and local community. This includes taking part in the Great Big School Clean, and litter picking around the local area and clean air monitoring.
